digiKam 8.6 Released with Many Face Management Updates and Improvements
Coming four months after digiKam 8.5, the digiKam 8.6 release is here to improve the application’s face management feature using cutting-edge AI technology by completely rewriting it, including the Face Classifier and Face Pipeline implementations. This leads to 25%-50% faster operation when using the full CPU.
In addition, the face detector has been revamped to reduce false positives for more accurate detections, a brand-new face classifier (matching algorithm) has been introduced, which leverages cross-validating K Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers, and Face Image Quality Assessment (FIQA) was included for removing small, pixelated, noisy, and blurry images from the training dataset.
