Mozilla Firefox 131 Is Now Available for Download, Here’s What’s New
Firefox 131 looks like an interesting update introducing temporary site permissions, such as geolocation, which will be automatically removed after one hour or when the tab is closed, and support for text fragments to allow users to link directly to a specific portion of text in a web document via a special URL fragment.
This release also improves the built-in translation feature by remembering languages that were previously used for translations when suggesting a default translation language and re-introduces the ability to navigate to the search engine home page by clicking on the search bar icons with a SHIFT key modifier.

Firefox 131 Now Available for Download, Here’s What’s New
Less than a month after the previous 130 release, Mozilla released a new version of its widely used open-source browser, Firefox v131, now available for download.
Firstly, Firefox will now temporarily remember when users grant websites permissions, such as geolocation access. These temporary permissions are designed to protect your privacy by automatically removing themselves after one hour or when you close the tab. This ensures that websites don’t retain unnecessary access to your information longer than needed.
In addition, hovering your mouse over an unfocused tab will now display a visual preview of its contents. This feature makes it easier to navigate between multiple tabs, allowing you to quickly find the page you’re looking for without clicking through each tab individually.

Mozilla Firefox 131 Brings Tab Hover Previews, URL Fragments + More - OMG! Ubuntu
The first change I noticed when opening Firefox 131 is the new icon for the ‘all tabs’ feature1.
Previously a small downward pointing arrow, this new—more obvious— icon is a small squarish depiction of a tabbed web browser. The change was made ahead of vertical tabs (upcoming feature) that moves this button to the toolbar if vertical tabs are enabled.
