Boiling Steam ☛ Bringing back the Recommended Games List
This was one of the most popular pages on Boiling Steam since 2014: our Recommended Games list. Since we migrated away from Wordpress, we had temporarily lost that page. I knew that we would ultimately bring it back, so here it is: The Recommended Games Page It’s now updated with a few more games since the last version we had in early 2024, for good measure. We have also added the Steam Deck rating for many games as an additional indicator. More importantly, we have automated the process to update and refresh that list.

Juha-Matti Santala ☛ Leaves is a great two player game
Leaves is a tile-laying board game about growing a tree and having more of your leaves attached to the tree than your opponent. It’s a quick 2-player game with 3D printable tiles that fits into a pocket and is a good fun in a pub, a train or while waiting for the rest of the gang to show up for a game night.

Hard Drive ☛ For No Reason in Particular Here's a Bunch of Games Where You Kill Nazis
What a crazy thing that would be, certainly way too outlandish to ever be plausible because like I said the Nazis have been extinct since basically the entire world beat the shit out of them because they were widely recognized as the clear bad guys of modern history. They’re dead and never coming back. And they certainly won’t end up controlling the American government after the American people elect an openly fascist administration who employs people who openly sieg heil on a national stage with no repercussions. Where would you get that insane idea?
Anyway, for no reason in particular, here’s a list of games where you get to kill Nazis because killing Nazis is fun and has been since at least 1939.

Wouter Groeneveld ☛ Shelf Space
Why do so many board spaces eat up too much precious shelf space? Whatever happened to small, nimble boxes with as much components and gameplay mechanics as possible crammed in? They do exist, but sometimes designers go overboard resulting in fiddling and barely readable cards.

Report: NetEase to Sell Off Majority of Its Overseas Teams, Potentially Closing a Dozen Game Studios
Recently, it was reported that NetEase had laid off the Marvel Rivals development team to “optimize development efficiency,” despite the game’s massive success. This has raised concerns that the company may be going through a difficult phase, with these recent changes pointing to a bigger issue. New information shared today by Game File (paywalled) has revealed even more.
It seems that NetEase is indeed undergoing a major restructuring, and many of its development studios could be affected if certain conditions aren’t met. The most worrying part is that some of these studios are highly known, like Quantic Dream, the developers of Detroit: Become Human.
