Maintaining the Routine of Curation, Activism, and Journalism

Journalism per se is a label and also a formal occupation one can qualify for by studying particular courses in a university (or equivalent). Journalism is also a process, however, so people without formal qualifications can still report on common affairs and produce analysis. 20 years ago I was writing my Ph.D. thesis in a technical discipline and I also became hyper-productive online, where I posted articles and other material, not only in my personal site. I found the process rewarding and enjoyable. I decided I'd do this for many years to come and I'm still doing it.
In recent years, this site began publishing a lot more original articles. It was a conscious choice and it has many advantages. Next year I intend to do more of the same; when curation or material to curate 'runs out' I will produce my own.
Routine-wise, running this site is easy and a lot of fun. I take rest, I feed the birds, and when back at the keyboard I generally check for the latest news; once caught up, it's time to write.
I really wish more people ran blogs instead of wasting time with "apps" and social control media, which is worse than a waste of time. █
