KryonOS is a small JavaScript-powered OS that turns a supported ESP32 development board with a touchscreen into a standalone computer with its own graphical interface, application launcher, and file storage. It provides the basic software environment needed to use the board without writing and flashing a separate firmware program for every application. Unlike traditional ESP32 firmware, KryonOS keeps applications separate from the main system and runs them through its built-in JavaScript runtime. It also includes an App Store that allows users to download and install applications and updates over Wi-Fi without reflashing the device.

ARK Electronics recently showcased the ARKV6X-RT, an NDAA-compliant flight controller based on the FMUV6X-RT and Pixhawk Autopilot Bus open standards. The module uses an NXP i.MX RT1176 microcontroller and includes three synchronized IMUs, onboard FRAM, a secure element and PX4 Autopilot support.

At Embedded World North America the wireless specialist Quectel has announced its QSM603FCP, a “smart PCBA” for edge computing that supports Android and Linux systems. It runs on MediaTek’s high-performance AIoT SoC, the MT8371.
Quectel terms a Smart PCBA a board that integrates a high-performance processor, AI chip and connectivity support directly onto the hardware.
The product addresses high computing power, edge computing, and rich multimedia M2M applications, in both the industrial and consumer spaces. For example, industrial smart panel devices, edge computing devices, automatic ticketing systems or smart POS systems.
