Medium ☛ Gaming on Linux is EASY Now
In years past, “gaming” and “Linux” weren’t words that a sane person would have put together, except to say that “gaming on Linux sucks.”
I remember back when I first tried out Ubuntu many years ago. At the time, it was a small, fun OS that wasn’t anything more than a toy to me. I couldn’t run any of my creative apps or play any of my games on it. Sure, it had couple of fun games built in, but none of the big name titles I wanted to play.
When I tried Ubuntu again in college, a few years later, I had a dual boot setup with Mac OS X and Ubuntu 7.10. But still, the gaming options weren’t amazing. Just more of the same 2D side scrollers (which I liked, to be clear). But I wanted to play games like Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. Something I couldn’t do on Linux.
