Qt ☛ A Model for all Ranges
Qt's model/view framework was one of the big additions to Qt 4 in 2005, replacing the previous item-based list, table, and tree widgets with a more general abstraction. QAbstractItemModel sits at the heart of this framework, and provides a virtual interface that allows implementers to make data available to the UI components.
QAbstractItemModel
is part of the Qt Core module, and it is also the interface through which Qt Quick's item views read and write data. -

Perl ☛ My Guilty Perl Obsession
The Guilt
I consider myself successful.
I’m 45, with a sportscar, a house, a family, and a small business now 30 years old.
I made good decisions.
My car is 15-years old, my monitors are 20-years old, my chair is 25-years old, my desk is 25-years old.
My computers historically last 10-years; I just tossed a mouse that survived 8-years. Perl.

GNOME ☛ Christian Hergert: Status Week 34
Foundry
Spent a bit of time working out how we can enable selection of app patterns in Foundry. The goal here would be to have some very common libadwaita usage patterns available for selection in the new-project guide.

BoingBoing ☛ Zoom in to a visual archive of Byte, the small systems journal
Byte magazine ran in print from 1975 to 1998, defining a golden age that began with the first commercially successful personal computer and ending with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (or the introduction of the iMac, perhaps.) At byte.tsundoku.io, you can explore the visual history of the "small systems journal." You can zoom into it like a map of the heavens, each issue starting as a row of pixels until you find yourself lost in the fine print of a Silicon Specialties ad or an introduction to computer telecommunications.

[Repeat] MWL ☛ “Networking for System Administrators, 2nd edition” sent to copyedit
The title basically says it all. Now I’ll start working on the new OpenZFS Mastery with Allan Jude. That work, of course, will stop once those copyedits return and I have to produce the book.

Juha-Matti Santala ☛ I’m happy when people learn and are inspired
Whether it’s developer meetups, hackathons, trainings, workshops or casual gatherings, I want to create something that helps people learn, to meet likeminded people and to become inspired by each other’s stories.
