Review: fu11m00n 2.64
Quoting: DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD. —
The fu11m00n website reports its distribution is a minimalist, immutable Linux distribution. fu11m00n is derived from Slackware's stable branch and the Slackware-based Porteus project. Its default desktop is LXQt. Its objective is to try to diverge from most Linux distributions by using alternative components and applications rather than mainstream ones.
The project's website can be a bit confusing, in part because the writing style is terse and chaotic. The introduction text at the top of the fu11m00n website is: "Embrace the 'suckless' ethos. 'Worse is better' (aka. 'Jersey' style) defined the OS standard in it's posix beginnings. Welcome... back to future's past!!! [sic]"
The FAQ has some weird responses to hypothetical questions too. "Is fu11m00n immutable? Short answer... yes. In the sense of 'petrification'. What this means is... select binaries are symlinked to the iso image. [sic]" This is a weird way of saying "no", because fu11moon is not an immutable distribution.
Another curious aspect of the distribution is the project hosts some of its files on SourceForge, however its ISO files are available on archive.org only. This makes downloading inconvenient as archive.org is not set up to provide quick access to system images. It seems strange the project would not host its ISOs on SourceForge, alongside its other files, or use one of the other popular mirrors for ISO hosting.
fu11m00n is available in a single edition for x86_64 machines exclusively. The ISO file I downloaded was 1.3GB in size.
