Since then I have occasionally thought about what a visual search engine would look like for the web. What if I could search for friends’ websites based on a descriptor like “serif fonts” or “yellow background” or “sidebar layout”? This may aid in retrieval such as in the scenario outlined in the previous paragraph, but it would also allow for exploration by theme. What if I could type “website with a 2000s Frutiger aero theme” and find a result? Or “website with a cool laptop layout”?
