Better Than Just Buying Things This Christmas
Yesterday evening The Sick Bird entered our home, perhaps assuming she can nest inside. While we don't mind feeding her as much as she wants - even bottle-feeding - birds don't belong inside homes (or cages). Seeing that the bird waited for us at the door - all on her own - was heartwarming though.
Our pets are the fish (indoors, obviously) but a lot of our pocket money goes towards feeding the birds. They're free-range and they seem happy to nest on our roof (throughout daytime).
Yesterday we noticed that some other people near us fed the birds (gulls also), recognising that sharing food at the peak of winter can save lives.
Instead of wasting money on stupid Christmas gifts (likely manufactured in sweatshops, causing human misery) we'll invest in seeds and maybe enjoy the occasional bird visitor.
They say there's "more to life" than consumerism; well, there's also more to life than just humans. █
