GNOME 48 RC Adds Dynamic Triple Buffering, Wayland Color Management Protocol

GNOME 48 Release Candidate (RC) is packed with lots of goodies compared to the Beta and Alpha versions, including Wayland color management protocol support in the Mutter window and composite manager, which also received support for activating the Activities Overview with either Super key, as well as for centering new windows by default.

Clonezilla Live 3.2.1 Disk Cloning/Imaging Tool Released with Linux 6.12 LTS

Coming four and a half months after Clonezilla Live 3.2, the Clonezilla Live 3.2.1 release bumps the kernel from the Linux 6.11 used in the previous version to Linux 6.12 LTS to provide users with better hardware support. It also rebases the underlying GNU/Linux operating system on the Debian Sid repository as of March 3rd, 2025.

Huawei is no stranger to selling laptops with Linux. Various models in its MateBook 13, 14, 15, and MateBook X Pro lines have been sold in both Windows and Linux configurations, with the latter typically exclusive to China and reloaded with Debian-based Deepin.

The—somewhat contentious—company has previously said all PCs released in 2025 would run the newer home-grown, closed-source HarmonyOS NEXT (viewed as an effort to wean reliance off of western-led tech companies, solidify control, and bring down costs).

HarmonyOS Next is interesting as it drops all Android components and runs its own custom micro-kernel that Huawei claims is 3x more efficient than Linux.
