Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin) Daily Build ISOs Are Now Available for Download

As expected, the first Ubuntu 25.04 daily builds are based on the previous Ubuntu release, Ubuntu 24.10, which arrived last month on October 10th. This means that the Plucky Puffin ISOs include the same core components and software versions as the Oracular Oriole release.

Based on the just-released Linux 6.12 kernel series, the GNU Linux-libre 6.12 kernel is here to clean up CPM/QE QMC SoC support, Realtek 8852BE-VT Wi-Fi driver, Amlogic BT protocol support, amcc qt2025 phy driver, aw96103/aw96105 proximity sensor, and TI TLV320AIC31XX codecs.

AlmaLinux OS 9.5 Is Here as a Free Alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5

Shotcut 24.11 Open-Source Video Editor Released with Various Bug Fixes

Shotcut 24.11 is only a bugfix release that addresses some issues reported by users from the Shotcut 24.10 and Shotcut 24.08 releases, including converting variable frame rate to constant, filtering in and out points when resizing transition by moving a clip, as well as lost Reframe keyframes during export.

Linux Kernel 6.12 Officially Released, This Is What’s New

Highlights of Linux 6.12 include real-time “PREEMPT_RT” support, a new scheduler called sched_ext, DRM panic messages as QR codes, Clang support (including LTO) for nolibc, an updated cpuidle tool that now displays the residency value of cpuidle states for a clearer and more detailed view of idle state information when using cpuidle-info, and support for NVIDIA‘s virtual command queue implementation for SMMUv3.

Archinstall 3.0 Arch Linux Menu-Based Installer Is Here with a Revamped Interface

The biggest new feature in Archinstall 3.0 is a revamped text-mode user interface (TUI) that now uses the Curses terminal control library, which allows for more complex layouts and a new but familiar look and feel of the menu-based interface.

Download Fedora 41 Full Editions (Workstation, Server, IoT Included)

The forty first release of Fedora GNU/Linux is here. It's released on Tuesday, 29 October 2024 or two weeks after Ubuntu Oracular Oriole release date. It is available in a lot of editions, mainly: Workstation, Server, IoT, Cloud and many more. We make a summary of the downloads for you below to mention only editions we believe most readers will be interested to try (and links to find the rest). OrangePi SBC is enabled with WiFi6/BT5 connectivity

This month, OrangePi launched a new variant of the Orange Pi 5 Single Board Computer based on the Octa-core Rockchip RK3588S 64-bit processor. The Orange Pi 5B supports 8K@60fps video output, Gigabit Ethernet and it can be configured with up to 256GB eMMC storage.

The new Orange Pi 5B features the same Rockchip processor with Big.Little architecture as the Orange Pi 5 SBC launched last year.

The product page doesn’t include OS images for this board, but it’s mentioned that it will support OrangePi OS, Ubuntu, Debian, Android, etc. The Orange Pi Wiki page can be found here, but it doesn’t include documentation for this SBC as of publication date.
