Linux is becoming even more popular on Steam, and not only because of the Steam Deck
There’s a new Steam survey to delve into. We see many of the same developments as in previous months, including users finally moving on from Windows 10 (as end-of-life nears) and more gamers upgrading to the RTX 50 series. And not only are people leaving Windows 10, they’re ditching Windows altogether – Linux’s share is up 0.32% in the past month.
Linux gaming has become increasingly popular on Steam, primarily because the Linux-based SteamOS, which comes installed as standard on Valve’s Steam Deck handheld, and more recently, third-party devices like the Lenovo Legion Go S. However, it’s not only SteamOS doing the heavy lifting; alternatives like Bazzite or Fedora Linux are making gains.
