Try Xfce on Wayland with openSUSE Leap 16.0 RC
Quoting: Try Xfce on Wayland with openSUSE Leap 16.0 RC - openSUSE News —
openSUSE Leap 16.0 has officially transitioned from Beta into the Release Candidate phase with the Build 148.4.
The biggest challenge for the Release Team prior to Autumn release is source code management, as we want to transition both Tumbleweed and Leap 16.0 from legacy OBS SCM to Git. This will also require a new maintenance model for Leap.
Users can expect a few more builds before we announce our Gold Master candidate. Given the nature of Leap 16 being built on top of binaries from SUSE Linux Enterprise 16, we can only do so once SUSE Linux Enterprise 16.0 announces their Gold Master in late September.
If all goes well with the maintenance setup we could aim for the delivery according to the roadmap in October shortly before SLES 16.0.
More details can be found in the roadmap and newly also in calendar.opensuse.org.

openSUSE Leap 16.0 Enters RC Phase with SELinux by Default
After dropping a beta back in late April, openSUSE Leap is now cruising toward its final stable 16.0 release, with the RC version officially available for testing purposes.
Now, since Leap 16 is closely tied to SUSE Linux Enterprise 16 (SLE 16), the actual Gold Master candidate can only be announced after SLE 16.0 itself hits that milestone, which is expected sometime in late September.
Assuming everything goes smoothly with the new maintenance setup, Leap 16.0 is on track to be delivered in October, just ahead of the official SLE 16.0 launch.
It’s worth noting also that the dev team transitioned from the old Open Build Service Source Code Management to Git for both Tumbleweed and Leap 16.0. Now, to the novelties.

openSUSE Leap 16.0 almost ready for full release
openSUSE Leap 16.0 has made the transition from Beta to Release Candidate with Build 148.4. The Linux distribution is now very close to its final version.
A notable new feature in openSUSE Leap 16.0 is the availability of Xfce on Wayland as an experimental preview. Thanks to intensive collaboration, openSUSE is one of the first distributions to offer this combination. Implementation remains challenging, as Wayland support in Xfce is still experimental, with several known issues.
Users can try greetd and gtkgreet as replacements for LightDM, two tools that are better suited to the Wayland environment. For installation, Leap 16.0 uses the latest Agama installer, suitable for both online and offline installations.
