Boiling Steam ☛ Gambonanza: Review
There are quite a few games inspired by Chess on Steam these days, most of them trying to turn the traditional 64 square games into something a bit more fun and approachable by adding timers or power-ups, and shit like that. I was caught off guard since I am a regular chess player and I was intrigued by Gambonanza, that takes the familiar chess pieces and their moves and put them in a totally different context with different victory conditions. In each level, you have to capture every single piece on increasingly chaotic boards while managing your boosts, bonuses and pieces that you collect in your reserve. The concept is simple: you’re playing chess, but the board starts tiny (roughly 4×6 tiles), pieces can literally fall off the edges if left unmoved too long (some tiles disappear after a while!), and victory means eliminating every enemy unit rather than checkmating a king.

After his (second) intense spiritual experience, he began to ponder the way in which we invent all kinds of means to distract us from the more pressing and urgent questions of life and death (Graham Tomlin’s words): [...]

Juan J Martínez ☛ Outpost progress
This game is my attempt to make a “big” 48K game, using 100% my own code. Previously, when I worked on 48K games, I was using the sp1.lib shipped with Z88DK. That library is very good, but it uses a lot of memory. And that’s why my Castaway is a tad short.

Ata Kuyumcu ☛ Nobody has reached the bottom (yet)
I’ve stopped adding rooms. Depth 13 is the end and the few floors above it stay deliberately empty so the final approach is a walk rather than a fight, and at some point somebody is going to get there.
