Resisting Misogyny
10 years ago (nearly a decade away from now, not the very distant past), around the time we visited Singapore, there was a storm in US politics. Obama's presumed successor, who was certain she would win, saw how ruinous and embarrassing leaks of E-mails from her campaign gave wings to the person she assumed would never ever win. This happened again in 2024 with Harris. The seemingly unelectable insurrectionist showed that this was considered OK with enough voters.
The world has not been the same since. There was also Brexit, enabled by rogue social control media (Facebook/Cambridge Analytica) and now we have misogyny normalised. In the US, the man who sexually assaulted many women, participated in trafficking of women for sex (Epstein) and said "grab her by the pussy" (it was recorded; he didn't and doesn't deny this) is considered politically acceptable and politicians are afraid to remove him from power.
In Free software, misogyny runs the show [1, 2] and tries to silence women. Worse yet, American misogynists try to deplatform a site that is not American and is run from many countries that aren't American. These are basically lunatics would abuse their own spouses, then abuse the spouses of others [1, 2]. We know who funds them.
We stand with (and for) equality, justice, and freedom. We want to make this very clear. We won't surrender to misfits and abusers who strangle women. █
