iTWire - After 11 days, Optus finally says 2.1m customers had ID data stolen
Telecommunincations company Singtel Optus has finally provided details of how many customers were affected by the data breach, saying that 2.1 million users had personal ID data stolen.
This includes 150,000 who had their passport details filched and 50,000 whose Medicare details were purloined.
In a statement, sent on Monday to users who had been affected, the company said of the 2.1 million, approximately 1.2 million customers had at least one number from a current and valid form of identification, and personal information, compromised.
