Brazil and India (Combined Population of Nearly 1.7 Billion People) Topping Records for GNU/Linux Usage
Estimated 1,436,697,241 in India, 217,169,238 in Brazil (as per this year's "official" records)
In India, the world's largest population, GNU/Linux it touching 16% and Windows is below 70% on desktops and laptops. This is not exactly 'flashing news' because we saw this kind of trend a year ago. It wasn't some temporary mistake and the share balances continue shifting further in this direction (Windows down, GNU/Linux up).
But more interesting to us (today at least) is Brazil. Check out the trends there (data as ODF):
So it's almost 3.3% based on the (almost) 2 weeks of February. This is very good news. It's part of a trend in South America as a whole. A fortnight ago Microsoft reported a sharp decline in Windows revenue. █
