Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin) Daily Build ISOs Are Now Available for Download

As expected, the first Ubuntu 25.04 daily builds are based on the previous Ubuntu release, Ubuntu 24.10, which arrived last month on October 10th. This means that the Plucky Puffin ISOs include the same core components and software versions as the Oracular Oriole release.

Based on the just-released Linux 6.12 kernel series, the GNU Linux-libre 6.12 kernel is here to clean up CPM/QE QMC SoC support, Realtek 8852BE-VT Wi-Fi driver, Amlogic BT protocol support, amcc qt2025 phy driver, aw96103/aw96105 proximity sensor, and TI TLV320AIC31XX codecs.

Shotcut 24.11 Open-Source Video Editor Released with Various Bug Fixes

Shotcut 24.11 is only a bugfix release that addresses some issues reported by users from the Shotcut 24.10 and Shotcut 24.08 releases, including converting variable frame rate to constant, filtering in and out points when resizing transition by moving a clip, as well as lost Reframe keyframes during export.

Linux Kernel 6.12 Officially Released, This Is What’s New

Highlights of Linux 6.12 include real-time “PREEMPT_RT” support, a new scheduler called sched_ext, DRM panic messages as QR codes, Clang support (including LTO) for nolibc, an updated cpuidle tool that now displays the residency value of cpuidle states for a clearer and more detailed view of idle state information when using cpuidle-info, and support for NVIDIA‘s virtual command queue implementation for SMMUv3.

Archinstall 3.0 Arch Linux Menu-Based Installer Is Here with a Revamped Interface

The biggest new feature in Archinstall 3.0 is a revamped text-mode user interface (TUI) that now uses the Curses terminal control library, which allows for more complex layouts and a new but familiar look and feel of the menu-based interface.

The forty first release of Fedora GNU/Linux is here. It's released on Tuesday, 29 October 2024 or two weeks after Ubuntu Oracular Oriole release date. It is available in a lot of editions, mainly: Workstation, Server, IoT, Cloud and many more. After a very long pause, I am happy to announce the release of Nanonote 1.4.0.

Nanonote is a minimalist note-taking application. It consists of a text area, a context menu and... that's about it!

It's handy to jot down short term notes, as a temporary place to collect copy'n'paste blocks, to draft a long response for an instant messaging app without having to fear pressing Enter too soon or any other use you can come up with!

TODO lists

Nanonote can also be used to write TODO lists. This is even better now in 1.4.0 thanks to the new task feature from Daniel Laidig, which lets you quickly create and toggle checkable tasks with Ctrl+Enter.
