Grml 2026.09 Linux Distro Is Out with Linux Kernel 7.1, Based on Debian 14 Forky

Coming four months after Grml 2026.04, the Grml 2026.09 release is powered by the Linux 7.1 kernel series and incorporates all the package updates and security patches from the upstream Debian Testing software repositories as of September 2026, which will become Debian 14 “Forky” sometime in 2027.

Ubuntu 26.10 “Stonking Stingray” Snapshot 3 Is Now Available for Public Testing

Development of Ubuntu 26.10 (codename Stonking Stingray) kicked off on April 30th, 2026, with the usual toolchain upload, based on the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) release, which means that it’s powered by Linux kernel 7.0 and uses the GNOME 50 desktop environment. In time, these will be updated to newer versions.

Tiny OSM-MF module runs Linux on Sitara AM67 and 4-TOPS AI

Ezurio has announced the Carbon AM67 OSM-MF, a compact solder-down module based on Texas Instruments’ Sitara AM67x processor family. The module offers heterogeneous Arm processing, up to 8GB LPDDR4, eMMC storage, 4-TOPS AI acceleration, multi-display and camera support, dual Gigabit Ethernet, and optional Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.

Rockchip RK3576 module powers edge AI dev kit with 20-TOPS RK1820 accelerator

The reComputer RK3576 compute module is based on Rockchip’s RK3576 SoC, which integrates four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores reaching 2.0GHz. Graphics are handled by an Arm Mali-G52 MC3 GPU, while the integrated NPU provides up to 6 TOPS of INT8 AI acceleration.

For anyone unfamiliar with it, Sushi is like Quick Look on macOS: you highlight a file (image, music, video, document, etc) in Nautilus, press the spacebar and an instant preview of its content appears. Press the spacebar again to dismiss it.

For v51, Sushi’s GTK4 port means it looks nicer on newer GNOME releases. There’s a flatter headerbar, and overlay controls on certain file types (like media) that let content bleed through from underneath. Light/dark mode preference is also now respected.
