Removing UbuntuBuzz, It's Experimenting With Slop
2 days ago: UbuntuBuzz is LLM Slop
Today we removed UbuntuBuzz from our sidebar, 2 days late (or belatedly), as the site began experimenting with becoming a slopfarm.
The last real blog post there seems to be this one dated March 12, authored by Ade Malsasa Akbar:
Prior to that he published one in February and several in January (of this year).
Then... silence.
We've seen this sort of trajectory before.
On October 17, i.e. about 7 months after the last post by Ade Malsasa Akbar, a new account showed up: "digital catalogue". Over 10 pieces of slop/spam showed up, starting with:
The following day about 4 more were added by the same user: "digital catalogue".
A day later it was down to 1 or 2.
Today just one:
We're guessing that what happened is, Ade Malsasa Akbar lost the will (or time) to write, so he created some new account called "digital catalogue" to experiment with slop.
Slowly by surely he will realised that he's vexing longtime readers and isn't gaining anything at all.
The idea that sites will experience some rebound or renaissance with slop is misconceived.
It has never worked.
It'll never work, either.
Worse yet, those new "Experiments" mostly serve to discredit the "Original Works" (past and future, if any).
Any further (or future) output is presumed slop.
Trust is gone. Authenticity takes ages to regain (if it's not too late already).
Today we removed the site from the sidebar, so it's already going to become less visible. █
