Instead of fighting Apple's locked bootloader, the project packages an ARM-optimized Arch Linux image running the Hyprland tiling Wayland compositor inside a native macOS wrapper. It utilizes Apple Hypervisor Framework alongside patched QEMU hooks to provide direct, hardware-accelerated CPU and display performance. Instead of reverse-engineering display drivers, the virtual machine renders into a native macOS window with full Retina scaling, shared clipboard buffers, and intact Superkey shortcuts. However, because Omarchy runs as an application, certain features and access to device hardware will be limited.
