CNX Software ☛ Rotary encoder with 1.8-inch touch display gets upgrade to ESP32-S31 SoC
Following our coverage of a 4.3-inch ESP32-S31 display development board, a Facebook (Farcebook) reader pointed out the GUITION JC3636F118C-I-YR1 rotary encoder with a built-in 1.8-inch touchscreen display. It appears to be an update to an earlier ESP32-S3 model, now equipped with an ESP32-S31NRV16 WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and 802.15.4 SoC with 16MB of PSRAM. The rotary knob also includes 16MB SPI flash, a speaker, a microphone, and an optional rechargeable battery.

Linux Gizmos ☛ Solder-down COM brings i.MX95 to Linux dev kit
ADLINK’s I-Pi OSM IMX95 is an industrial development kit based on NXP’s six-core i.MX95 processor with an integrated 2 TOPS NPU. It pairs a solder-down OSM 1.2 module with a 4-inch carrier board, offering dual Gigabit Ethernet, display connectivity, and expansion options for edge AI applications.
The I-Pi OSM IMX95 integrates ADLINK’s OSM-IMX95 computer-on-module with the OSM-EB4 carrier board. The module follows the SGeT Open Standard Module (OSM) revision 1.2 specification and uses the Size-L form factor measuring 45 × 45mm. -

Hackaday ☛ Building A Simple Internet Radio
It’s a simple desktop radio set, but instead of tuning in to AM or FM broadcast bands, it has an antenna for 2.4 GHz instead. That’s because inside this radio is an ESP32-S3 development board, which is equipped with onboard WiFi hardware that lets it connect to the internet. It’s hooked up to a 1.3-inch OLED display over I2C, which acts as a user interface in concert with a rotary encoder. Sound is handled with a MAX98357 I2S audio amplifier, hooked up to a small 3 W speaker. Once programmed appropriately, all the unit needs is a WiFi SSID and password, and the URL for the internet radio station you’d like to listen to.

Hackaday ☛ Making A Five-Segment Display With Platinum-Titanium Cathodes
Rather than neon, this uses argon as the gas. The anode is formed by the indium-tin oxide layer on a piece of glass, with the cathode sputtered onto the other side in the form of first a titanium layer followed by platinum. This combination helps to prevent the latter from flaking off due to incompatibilities between the molecular matrices of the glass and platinum.
