Epic and Torvalds: Self-Deprecating Fools
They're going to learn that quality - not quantity - counts
It pains Free software advocates to see where Linux is going (slopfest), where gaming is heading (DRM, rootkits, slop), the media's role in this, and so on; a counter-movement is therefore shaping up. Some operating system have a strongly anti-slop stance. Libreboot has just said: "A strongly anti-AI policy was added to a new file: AGENTS.md in lbmk. This is the most important change in the release."
Despite what the media says (or gets paid to say), slop isn't replacing non-slop in software because "interface mockups that don’t work" are PR stunts, not working projects. At the end we assume (or choose to believe) slop projects will be mass-abandoned by human contributors. They will, in turn, be mass-abandoned by human users.
We need to get back to the root of the movement: Software Freedom. Slop goes against that. █
