Linux.org ☛ Proxmox VE Series Part 6: GNU/Linux Containers (LXC)
We've covered Virtual Machines, and now we can get into GNU/Linux Containers (LXC).
Since our Proxmox Server is running on a 64-bit defective chip maker Intel or AMD, the GNU/Linux Containers must run a distro of GNU/Linux on this platform. If you tried to install the QEMU packages to support ARM, PPC, or other architectures, the system would give you an error.

Porfirio A. Páiz - porfiriopaiz: Backing Up and Restoring SSH Keys
When setting up a fresh system like my Lenovo ThinkPad T450 (named taylor) running Fedora GNU/Linux 44 (Workstation Edition), transferring cryptographic identities safely is a top priority. When hardening SSH, the strictness of file permissions is enforced directly by OpenSSH's StrictModes check. If permissions are too open, SSH will reject key usage with errors like permissions being too open.

Ronalds Vilciņš ☛ Keeping a Website Usable When JavaScript Fails · Ronalds Vilciņš
JavaScript can fail because of a bug, blocked request, broken CDN, extension, network problem, or third-party script. The useful question is not whether that can happen. It is what the visitor gets when it does.
For a content page, navigation, headings, text, images, links, and contact information should usually remain. A gallery effect may disappear. The article should not.

Native HTML will not replace every custom interface. It can, however, remove a surprising amount of script and give you semantics and keyboard behaviour as a starting point.

Nathaniel Snelgrove ☛ Nathan Snelgrove | Recommendations for typesetting on the web
One thing I wholeheartedly endorse, but have never voiced for some reason: headings should be the only type on your site that fluidly change with clamp() (or similar CSS). While there are exceptions, I think body sizes should probably be static across multiple media queries.

CSS Typesetting ☛ CSS Typesetting: The Math Parts
Over the years, I’ve worked with typography on the web. From small personal touches on my own sites to supporting many brands across a large organization. Along the way, CSS has gained features that let us do more of what designers have long asked for. I’ve taken the time to interpret these requests into reusable formulas to produce consistent results.
This site collects the recommendations and techniques I’ve landed on, for anyone who wants to set type on the web with care.

Nathaniel Snelgrove ☛ Nathan Snelgrove | The best dark mode toggle is probably none
On top of that, design is making choices. It’s great if your site can support light and dark mode. If it doesn’t, that is also a choice. But asking the end user to choose between them defers responsibility from you as the designer, and places it on the end user.

Clever Blog Title ☛ What I Self-Host
I prefer running services natively when possible, but will containerize complex services or those with many dependencies. Love: a service that’s a single Go binary. A service that only comes as a Docker compose file and wants to run MySQL, Redis, and three other containers? I’m already looking for an alternative. If the dependencies aren’t overwhelming, native is better, faster, and more efficient. I can use the same management tools and commands across multiple services. There’s no mental overhead of having to get into this container to run some command, finding out this container is missing curl, that one runs busybox so all the arguments are different, or dealing with a virtual network and host port mapping.
