Tenka – Debian-based Linux distribution with Japanese-inspired desktop
Quoting: Tenka – Debian-based Linux distribution with Japanese-inspired desktop - LinuxLinks —
Tenka is a Debian-based Linux distribution that places particular emphasis on desktop appearance and visual consistency. It features two interchangeable desktop themes inspired by Japanese and Chinese aesthetics, extending their designs across the boot process, login screen, desktop and applications.
The distribution uses Hyprland with a custom desktop shell developed using Quickshell. Its two themes are Tenka, featuring samurai-inspired artwork and Japanese motifs, and Tianxia, drawing on Chinese fantasy imagery. Users can switch themes without logging out, although changes to the boot screen and login experience take effect after rebooting.
Tenka also provides a lightweight XFCE desktop session, known as Tenka Lite, intended for older computers and virtual machines. The system can automatically select this environment when hardware acceleration or sufficient memory is unavailable. Other features include a custom application launcher, control centre, desktop widgets, performance mode and a themed Calamares installer.
