Peter Czanik: A syslog-ng container image based on Alpine Linux
Recently, someone suggested I should check out Alpine GNU/Linux and prepare a syslog-ng container image based on it. While not supported by the syslog-ng project, an Alpine-based syslog-ng container image already exist as part of the Linuxserver project.
Other images
The syslog-ng project already provides a Debian-based syslog-ng image. It has well over 50 million downloads. It is available on the Docker Hub. You can find more information about it at https://hub.docker.com/r/balabit/syslog-ng
The majority of syslog-ng users run syslog-ng on RHEL or a compatible operating system. Talking to these users, I found they were not so happy that we use a different OS as a base. I am now working on an RHEL-based syslog-ng container image. Well, almost :-) RHEL UBI (universal base image) based images can only be built on RHEL. CentOS, Alma GNU/Linux and Rocky GNU/Linux users would not be able to rebuild the image themselves. So, instead of RHEL UBI, I will use a compatible image for a wider reach. Most likely, you will be able to switch it to RHEL UBI with minimal changes, but I have not tested it yet.

Michał Sapka ☛ Template for jail with an external IP assigned via DHCP
I was able to achieve most of this by following FreeBSD handbook, Rubenerd’s post, and FreeBSD Wiki, but I also received some help from different individuals whose names I can’t recall.
I use classic jails created from ZFS snapshots, but (as to the best of my knowledge), any jail will work with the following configuration. Unless specified, all code here goes to /etc/jails.conf.

Red Hat ☛ Run OpenShift 4.17 on VCF 5.2.1: What you need to know
We get a lot of questions about versioning and understanding how vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) interacts with Red Hat OpenShift. vSphere is part of the VCF set of software components that Broadcom/VMware is using now by default to refer to versioning. While they are keeping the VMware vSphere versioning, they are presenting it together in all new communications as VCF. For future releases, vSphere and VCF cadences will be aligned.
