Firefox 116 Is Now Available for Download, This Is What’s New
While the Cookie Banner Reduction and Quick Actions in address bar features are once again missing from the final release, Firefox 116 is here with an improved Picture-in-Picture mode that now features the volume slider so you can more easily change the volume while watching videos in the pop-up window.
Also new in Firefox 116 is the ability to edit existing text annotations, the ability to copy any file from your operating system and paste it into Firefox, and a new “Learn More” link in the update notification prompt that lets English locale users access the release notes.

Mozilla Firefox 116 is Now Available to Download
Firefox 116 carries a modest crop of changes that further refine and finesse the famed FOSS browser.
Do you use Picture-in-Picture mode (PIP)? If so, you’ll notice that the pop-put window finally has a volume slider. This makes it easy to adjust the sound levels of whatever you’re watching without needing to affect system-wide volume levels – a nice little buff, I think.

Mozilla Firefox 115.1 and 116 Released With Two Microsoft Windows-Only Security Issues Plugged
Firefox 115.1 and 116 Released With Two Windows-Only Security Issues Fixed
As usual, a Firefox release is out with serious security vulnerabilities inherited from Windows in addition to actual bugs in Firefox.
This is a common occurrence because Windows is badly designed and adds vulnerabilities to everything that runs on top of it.
CVE-2023-4052 creates a hazard using the NTFS version of symbolic links and a hole in Windows UAC (discretionary access controls).
CVE-2023-4054 is yet another Windows MetaFile-like bug that can be used to run malicious code without any warning.
