  • Rollback test and update fix

    There was a report on the forum, that rolling back from Easy 3.4.4 to 3.4.1 failed. No details were provided.

    I have tried the same exercise. rolling back from 3.4.4 to 3.4.1, on my Lenovo Ideacentre PC, and it worked, no issues at all. This is going from 5.15.16 to 5.10.93 kernel. Running it right now.

    Then a thought occurred, the "update" icon on the desktop is now compromised. It will look for a later online version, which is currently 3.4.4, and that can then be downloaded and installed -- however, 3.4.4 is already installed.

  • Global IP TV Panel updated to 2022MK3

    Steve has now released "MK3" and has sent me a an EasyOS-tweaked PET, and I have updated the EasyOS "noarch" PET repo. Not yet uploaded.

  • Kernel modules rts_bpp and rtw89

    I have recompiled the 5.15.16 kernel with these third-party modules.

Latest Changes in EasyOS 3.4.4

  • Attempting fix Xorg horiz and vert sync limits

    Reading the posts, you will get to a fix. Pemasu commented out the "HorizSync 35-81" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and X started OK.

    Those horiz and vert limits were put in way back when we had cathode-ray-tube monitors. It constrained Xorg so it didn't try to run the monitor with some insane horiz and vert rates.

  • Automatic popup of drives menu fixed

    It is intended also, that the drives menu will popup automatically, whenever there is some change to the drives, for example, a USB-stick plugged in or removed, or a partition mounted or unmounted. However, that is not happening in Easy 3.4.4.

    What is supposed to happen is that the 'xdotool' utility is used to move the mouse pointer over the drives icon in the tray, then a middle-mouse-button click simulated. This was not happening, the mouse pointer was not getting moved correctly.

Grub4dosconfig startup fixed

  • Grub4dosconfig startup fixed

    Forum member 'shinobar' is the author of Grub4dosconfig PET package. It goes way back, and is no longer maintained, as shinobar is now developing Grub2config, that supersedes Grub4dosconfig, and supports both UEFI and traditional BIOS based computers.

    I will probably update to Grub2config someday, but for now EasyOS has Grub4dosconfig, with some fixes for EasyOS.

  • Final changes before releasing EasyOS 3.4.5

    I have been doing some final testing before uploading Easy 3.4.5.

    Problems were encountered flipping between ROX-mode icons-on-desktop and JWM-mode icon-free-desktop. I tweaked /root/.xinitrc and had to modify JWMDesk -- the PET is now version 3.5.1.1.

    Firefox has been bumped to version 99.0, and youtube-dl updated -- the youtube-dl in Easy 3.4.4 no longer works -- though the GUI does have an update button.

It is a popular open-source cloud-native application proxy, API Gateway, Edge-router, and more. I use Traefik to secure my websites using an SSL certificate obtained from Let's Encrypt.
