  • Raspberry Pi 5G Development Kit to ships with Quectel RM50xQ or Telit FN980 modem - CNX Software

    SixFab is now taking pre-orders for its “Raspberry Pi 5G Development Kit” equipped with either Quectel RM50xQ or Telit FN980 5G modem fitted to SixFab’s Raspberry Pi 5G HAT, all housed in a plastic and acrylic enclosure with four antennas.

    The selected modems rely on the worldwide 5G NR Sub-6GHz and mmWave frequency bands, and the company says a data throughput of up to 5.0 Gbps (download) and 1.0 Gbps (upload) is possible with the kit. SixFab explained the 5G devkit is designed to help with the development, optimization, and testing of MTC (Machine-type Communication) and M2M projects leading to products such as IoT gateways, indoor and outdoor CPE, high bitrate video streaming, real-time sensor data broadcasting, high-speed mobile 5G hotspot, etc.

  • Netgate Releases TNSR High Performance Router Version 22.02

    Release 22.02 is the first release to run over an Ubuntu Long Term Support (LTS) release, specifically Ubuntu Server 20.04. Ubuntu is now the primary operating system for TNSR. New TNSR software installations will only be supported on Ubuntu.

  • Compute module taps NXP's new octa-core S32G3 CPU

    MicroSys announced a “Miriac MPX-S32G399A” module featuring NXP’s new S32G3 in-vehicle and industrial networking CPU, which runs Linux on up to 8x Cortex-A53 cores with up to 4x lockstep Cortex-M7 cores and 20MB system RAM.

    MicroSys Electronics teased an upcoming Miriac MPX-S32G399A compute module that will debut NXP’s S32G3 Series S32G399A SoC. We missed the Dec. 21 announcement of the up to octa-core, Cortex-A53 S32G3 Series. This 2nd Gen S32G SoC delivers 2.5 times more applications processing performance than the S32G2 Series, claims NXP.

With the Librem AweSIM, users’ personal information is never sold, disclosed, or even seen by the big telecom carriers. Launched in Oct 2020, subscribers can now port their existing phone numbers to their secure alternative.

    Chief Security Officer, Kyle Rankin says “Moving my personal number over to AweSIM means my cellular data is now private and protected.     A little while ago, I wrote about WCH CH32V307 32-bit RISC-V MCU that was found in a board with eight UART ports that could be controlled over Ethernet or USB, and the company has released some source code to use the board while inviting the community to submit pull requests to the project.

    But now WCH, RT-Thread, LCSC, and EasyEDA have joined hands to launch the RISC-V design challenge where the companies will provide a free board or two RISC-V chips to selected participants, as well as cash prizes with up to $1000 offered to the best projects.

  • How To Install MongoDB on AlmaLinux 9 - idroot

    In this tutorial, we will show you how to install MongoDB on AlmaLinux 9. For those of you who didn’t know, MongoDB is a high-performance, highly scalable document-oriented NoSQL database. Unlike in SQL databases where data is stored in rows and columns inside tables, in MongoDB, data is structured in JSON-like format inside records which are referred to as documents.   • Self-host a Ghost Blog With Traefik

    Ghost is a very popular open-source content management system. Started as an alternative to WordPress and it went on to become an alternative to Substack by focusing on membership and newsletter. The creators of Ghost offer managed Pro hosting but it may not fit everyone's budget. Alternatively, you can self-host it on your own cloud servers. On Linux handbook, we already have a guide on deploying Ghost with Docker in a reverse proxy setup. Instead of Ngnix reverse proxy, you can also use another software called Traefik with Docker. It is a popular open-source cloud-native application proxy, API Gateway, Edge-router, and more. I use Traefik to secure my websites using an SSL certificate obtained from Let's Encrypt. Once deployed, Traefik can automatically manage your certificates and their renewals. In this tutorial, I'll share the necessary steps for deploying a Ghost blog with Docker and Traefik.
