Optimizing Xubuntu's user interface

Xubuntu targets slower older hardware with limited resources and display size like my IBM Thinkpad with 1 Gig Intel processor 250 Mb memory, 30 Gig hard drive and 14 inch display size. Running the system on older hardware is a challenge in itself but in this article I am going to focus exclusively on usability issues like interface optimization that might enhance older hardware functionality making xubuntu experience more enjoyable.

The default look of Xubuntu is pretty good but it still leaves room for improvements. For me the two panels default set up wastes too much valuable screen estate that I could use for more essential tasks. The two panels don't add more functionality to the work environment than the one panel setup, in fact, I found the second panel a redundant feature--from the usability point of view a navigational nuisance.

On Linux handbook, we already have a guide on deploying Ghost with Docker in a reverse proxy setup. Instead of Ngnix reverse proxy, you can also use another software called Traefik with Docker. It is a popular open-source cloud-native application proxy, API Gateway, Edge-router, and more. I use Traefik to secure my websites using an SSL certificate obtained from Let's Encrypt. Once deployed, Traefik can automatically manage your certificates and their renewals. In this tutorial, I'll share the necessary steps for deploying a Ghost blog with Docker and Traefik.
