After revealing earlier this month that there won’t be any Community Editions of the PinePhone in the near future, PINE64 shocked the Linux community today by unveiling the fact that they decided upon a default operating system and desktop environment for the popular Linux phone.

I bet some of you might have guessed already, but PINE64 selected Manjaro Linux ARM as default operating system for the PinePhone, as well as KDE’s modern and mature Plasma Mobile UI as default graphical interface.

    After shipping five different PinePhone Community Edition models, each with a different operating system and/or user interface pre-installed, Pine64 ended the Community Edition program this month. So what’s next?

    A few things: Pine64 has announced that future PinePhones will ship with Manjaro Linux and the KDE Plasma Mobile user interface pre-installed. If you already have a PinePhone and want to try out that combo yourself, you can find the latest beta builds at osdn.

    But users will still be able to boot other operating systems from a microSD card or install an alternate OS to the phone’s built-in eMMC storage. And Pine64 is looking into ways to continue supporting the developers of other smartphone Linux distributions financially, possibly by selling a set of $15 custom back covers and providing OS developers with $10 for each sale.

    PINE64, the maker of the PinePhone Linux smartphone series had announced earlier this month that they discontinued the PinePhone Community Edition series.

    They also announced that they would be focusing on the development of the PinePhone as a platform with many exciting updates to be expected over the next 12 months, and that they would also decide on a default operating system. Many were left thinking that what would be next.

    But, after the recent announcement it is now clear that the PinePhone will be shipped with Manjaro ARM and KDE’s Plasma Mobile as the user interface by default, with the freedom to choose any other Linux-based mobile operating system or user interface later.

On Linux handbook, we already have a guide on deploying Ghost with Docker in a reverse proxy setup. Instead of Ngnix reverse proxy, you can also use another software called Traefik with Docker. It is a popular open-source cloud-native application proxy, API Gateway, Edge-router, and more. I use Traefik to secure my websites using an SSL certificate obtained from Let's Encrypt. Once deployed, Traefik can automatically manage your certificates and their renewals. In this tutorial, I'll share the necessary steps for deploying a Ghost blog with Docker and Traefik.
