Ronalds Vilciņš ☛ Why 100vh Doesn’t Always Fit a Mobile Screen
height: 100vh sounds like “fill the visible screen.” On a phone, browser controls appear and disappear, so there is more than one useful definition of the viewport height.
That mismatch can put a button below the visible area or make a full-screen panel jump while someone scrolls.

Rachel Kaufman ☛ My Favorite Side Project Was Broken In Safari For Years And Nobody Noticed
This is a tough one to write, because it involves me making a mistake. A mistake that persisted in prod for probably three years.

Dayvi Schuster ☛ We Put a Browser in Everything and Called It Progress
What bothers me even more is how quickly we start defending it. Of course it takes a moment, it’s doing a lot. It’s cross-platform, it has plugins, it needs to sync. Yes, I understand all of that, I build software too. But explaining why an application is slow doesn’t make it any less frustrating to use, and it certainly doesn’t mean we should stop expecting better.

Adam Tinworth ☛ News SEO isn't dead. It's become just another tool.
But my interest in SEO as a whole is waning in direct proportion to Google’s declining interest in search.

Mozilla ☛ What does the (Fire)fox say?
It all started with a question: What does Firefox sound like to you?Over the past year, Mozilla developed a small but meaningful set of sounds to add a sonic dimension to the Firefox experience. When we started this process, we knew we wanted something warm, human, and representative of our open source identity. We also knew we didn’t want to invent these sounds in a vacuum. So we did what we’ve always done and turned to our community. With the help of creative audio company Sounds Like These, we reached out to Firefox users, contributors, and team members across the globe asking them to send us audio and written descriptions of what Firefox sounds like to them. This feedback became our compass. From there, we began building three new sounds that bring to life our logo, mascot Kit, and Firefox notifications. The logo and Kit sound have already begun rolling out across the Firefox brand (check them out in our new design launch announcement) – and we’re excited to bring the notification sound to the browser in a future update. Not only did we want these new sounds to reflect Mozilla’s mission and values, we also wanted to ensure they felt connected to one another. This is the story of how they came to be.
