Arti 2.6.0 released

This release continues our ongoing development towards using Arti as a relay and as a directory authority, with much of the work focusing on document parsing, directory mirror support, and DNS stream handling. Additionally, on the RPC front, we are making steady progress towards RPC-based configuration management. Finally, congestion control and Counter Galois Onion cryptography are both now always enabled in arti.

Bluetooth/UWB board based on nRF52840 offers 10cm accuracy

The board is based on Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52840 microcontroller, which integrates a 64MHz Arm Cortex-M4 processor with floating-point support, 1MB of flash memory, and 256KB of RAM. Wireless connectivity from the MCU consists of 2.4GHz Bluetooth 5.0, with supported Bluetooth data rates of 2Mbps, 1Mbps, 500kbps, and 125kbps.

Embedded platform implements Amlogic A311Y3 octa-core SoC with PCIe 3.0 support

The Amlogic A311Y3 integrates two Arm Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 2.4GHz alongside six Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz. Graphics are handled by an Arm Mali-G625 MC1 GPU, while the integrated neural processing unit provides up to 8 TOPS of AI acceleration with support for INT4, INT8, INT16, FP8, FP16, and BF16 workloads.

Aquila IQ8 takes Dragonwing IQ-8275 designs from prototype to production

Following the recent launch of the Arduino Ventuno Q, Toradex has introduced the Aquila IQ8, its first Qualcomm Dragonwing-based System on Module. Built around the same IQ-8275 processor, the module targets industrial edge AI, robotics, computer vision, and other compute-intensive embedded applications.

Ventuno Q runs Ubuntu on Dragonwing IQ8 with 40-TOPS NPU along with real-time STM32H5

The Ventuno Q was first shown in March this year and is based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ8 IQ-8275, which integrates an eight-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU, an Adreno 623 GPU, a Spectra 692 image signal processor, and a Hexagon NPU rated for up to 40 dense TOPS of AI acceleration.

Radxa C201 exposes dual 2.5GbE, NVMe and serial I/O for VMARC-Q9075

Radxa has recently published additional hardware details for the C201, a 120 × 120mm carrier board designed for its compute module based on Qualcomm’s Dragonwing IQ-9075 platform. The board provides access to the module’s high-speed interfaces through dual 2.5GbE, NVMe storage, camera support, as well as RS-232, RS-485, and CAN bus connectivity.

Linux Kernel 7.1 Reaches End of Life, It’s Time to Upgrade to Linux Kernel 7.2

Linux kernel 7.1 was released on June 14th, 2026, introducing new features like a new NTFS file system implementation, which has been in the works for the last 4 years, featuring full write support with delayed allocation, iomap, and folio integration to improve write performance, and a new suite of userspace utilities called ntfsprogs-plus.

Highlights of Mozilla Thunderbird 155 include an updated S/MIME pop-up that now shows signature, digest, encryption algorithms, and key sizes, custom OAuth support for IMAP and SMTP servers, new PKCE and external browser fields for custom OAuth settings, and new Enterprise policies to disable QR export and experimental features.

Steam Client Now Supports HDR Streaming on Steam Deck OLED

The new stable Steam Client update for September 1st, 2026, is here to introduce support for HDR streaming on Steam Deck OLED via Remote Play, improve video color range on all platforms during Remote Play, and add support for changing accounts while a game is running.

First Arch Linux ISO Powered by Linux Kernel 7.2 Is Now Available for Download

Arch Linux 2026.09.01 is the first Arch Linux ISO release to ship with Linux kernel 7.2 by default, which should give users a boost when detecting hardware, especially on newer devices, but especially on older ones where previous Arch Linux ISOs failed to detect some of the components.

Audacity 3.7.9 Open-Source Audio Editor Released with FFmpeg 9 Support

Firefox 156 Enters Beta Testing with Improved Memory and CPU Usage

Firefox 156 promises to improve memory and CPU usage when displaying large JPEG images that are scaled down to fit a page, improve dragging of inline images to a new position in a rich-text editor, replacing it with a long line of text instead of moving it, and improve high-sample-rate FLAC audio in MP4 playback.

Mozilla Firefox 155 Is Now Available for Download, Here’s What’s New

Highlights of Firefox 155 include support for Happy Eyeballs v3 for faster page loading, the ability to reorder containers in Settings, support for Nintendo Switch Pro and compatible aftermarket controllers on Windows, and support for showing how many trackers it has blocked in the address bar.
