Generative Hey Hi (AI) raises real questions about copyright, attribution, security, energy use, labor, trust, and the flood of low-quality patches that maintainers are increasingly being asked to review.

After seeing a video a few months ago demonstrating how a proprietary CAM solution uses machine learning and large language models to automatically generate CNC instructions, and successfully testing it on a real CNC, I began wondering if the same could be achieved with free software. I still do not know the answer, but I may be getting closer to finding out.
