Ubuntu is Going in a Bad Direction
21 years ago, in the winter of 2004, I installed the first version/release of Ubuntu. It looked and behaved a lot like Debian, which was basically what it was (at the beginning). It had been shipped to me free of charge (remember ShipIt?).
Ubuntu now goes out of its way to break what it inherited from Debian. It's painful to see. How much more damage will be done? Then they try to do the same to Debian ("upstream"). So even Debian starts to "suck".
Is Arch Linux the "New Debian"? Will the community re-calibrate to avert sabotage? █
