Dominique Leuenberger ☛ Tumbleweed – Review of the week 2026/44
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
This week saw the release of 6 snapshots (1022, 1023, 1024, 1026, 1027, and 1028).
We were able to check off quite a few items from last week’s outlook. GNU/Linux Kernel 7.3.0 arrived early in the week with snapshot 1022, quickly complemented by VirtualBox 7.2.22 to keep host modules happy. Ruby 4.0.9 landed with fixes for several regular expression CVEs, and HarfBuzz made the jump to 15.0.0. Following up on last week’s rollout of Plasma 6.8.0, KDE users also received a prompt first bugfix release with Plasma 6.8.1.
In addition, a couple of major version updates made their way into the distribution, most notably MariaDB 13.0.2 and LAME 4.0. Package management also got some welcome polish: libsolv 0.7.41 and zypper 1.14.102 arrived in snapshot 1028, making repository cache loading about 20% faster. Security updates rounded out the week with fresh releases for python-Pillow, Java, and Firefox.
