Hedon, another retro FPS using the GZDoom game engine is officially out
Hedon, a completely original fantasy FPS using the open source GZDoom game engine is now officially out.
Like with the classics, there's no hand-holding with levels that will require you to do a little exploration to find keys and solve a few puzzles. It's fast-paced, it has a little retro-gore and it pretty much has everything you might want in such an FPS.

Prodeus is another epic looking retro inspired shooter that will be coming to Linux
Seriously loving this revival of retro-looking first-person shooters coming out lately, with Prodeus being another that's not on Kickstarter and it does look very impressive.
The interesting thing about this one, is that I did ask on Steam back in November last year about Linux support and they said it would be for Windows. Seems they changed their mind on this, with their Kickstarter which states they are "Targeting PC platforms".

The 2D indie platform fighter 'Super Powered Battle Friends' is now on Kickstarter
Super Powered Battle Friends from developer Cache Grab Studios is now on Kickstarter to help push it past the finishing line.
With both online and offline play, AI bots for when no one is around and eventual modding support it's certainly one to keep an eye on. I've given it a shout-out a couple times now, since the developer has been so open about supporting Linux and it will be using Vulkan too.

The latest teaser for the open-world action adventure game 'Pine' has me needing more, coming to Linux
You will be forgiven if you've not heard of Pine before or you forgot about it, I haven't kept track of it since the Kickstarter and it's releasing later this year!
It was funded way back in April of 2017, with over four thousand backers giving the developer Twirlbound over one hundred and twenty thousand euros! With so many games, it's easy to lose track but they've now announced a partnership with publisher Kongregate and a release window for Steam in August (but no exact date).

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future Tech
The metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world.
Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility.
