NVIDIA have put out a new Vulkan beta driver with better pipeline creation performance
It seems to be a busy weekend! NVIDIA have put out a new version of their Vulkan beta driver and it's an interesting one.
Today, NVIDIA 415.22.05 became available and as expected of this driver series it adds in new Vulkan extensions. Specifically, it adds support for VK_KHR_depth_stencil_resolve, VK_EXT_buffer_device_address, VK_EXT_memory_budget, VK_EXT_memory_priority (only for Windows currently) and VK_EXT_pci_bus_info.
The extra interesting bit is the improvement they listed in this driver version. They mention that it has "Better pipeline creation performance when there is a cache hit" so it will be an interesting driver to test out. Good to see NVIDIA continue working on performance!

Intel Graphics Driver Working On FP16 Visual Support For Handling Wide Color Gamut
Besides the Intel engine-reset graphics driver work, some other interesting activity to report on this weekend in the Intel open-source Linux graphics driver space is the FP16 visual and frame-buffer configuration support that recently debuted.
This FP16 visuals work is intended to be used with the likes of EXT_surface_SMPTE2086_metadata and EXT_gl_colorspace_scrgb extensions, albeit not implemented yet. Once those extensions are implemented it can yield support for Android wide-color gamut support and related wide-color scenarios where 16-bit per channel color depth is desired.

New Radeon Vega IDs & Fixes Land Ahead Of Linux 4.21-rc1
The initial batch of fixes as well as new device IDs were merged to mainline Linux Git overnight, just in time for today's Linux 4.21-rc1 kernel release (well, looking like it may be 5.0-rc1).
This first batch of DRM "fixes" for Linux 4.21/5.0 is notable in that it adds the new VegaM PCI ID for the product that will quite likely be announced this coming week during CES. Presumably this will be a new Intel CPU with revised Vega (or really, Polaris) graphics.
