Thank You, Ricky Hatton
Strong person, but inner struggle
Ricky Hatton has died. He is a local legend. He was younger than Rianne.
Many people around here still try to digest the news. Blows to the head, depression, and diet issues may have played a role (they're also interconnected), but it's still hard to believe he's gone.
Tux Machines has been a Mancunian site since 2013. Next month marks 12 years since it "moved" from the United States, where it had thrived for 9 years (almost a decade). Back then Hatton was still professionally active.
Reading between the lines, the death of Hatton was partly brought upon by Hatton himself, directly or indirectly (bad health). If you struggle with depression, reach out and speak out to people. Quoting Amir Khan: "As fighters, we tell ourselves we’re strong — we train, we sweat, we take hits, we get up. But sometimes the hardest fight happens in silence, in the mind. Mental health isn’t weakness. It’s part of being human. And we must talk about it. We must reach out. We must lean on each other." █
