Quoting: Arch Linux-Based CachyOS Just Got A Great Update —
Gaming-centered Linux distribution CachyOS released its semi-monthly image update over the weekend with several changes. The announcement includes an additional pre-configured window manager option, plus the debut of a new package search website.
When you click on a package though you can find the project description, home page, packager contact, SHA-256 checksum, and more. You can also download the binary directly from the dashboard, if you want. It's similar to the official Arch package search tool or the AUR package search—but no discussion feature.
This kind of resource I find very helpful, especially as a journalist. I often need to find out where software is available and which version it's currently at for reporting purposes. I don't like booting into specific distros just to check on a package version number. Package databases are also useful to anyone who wants to confirm they're avoiding malware in the AUR. The Arch User Repository has been hit with several malware-laden packages in the past couple of months, including a Google Chrome package hiding a RAT, so the more review resources the better.
