Linux drama: Rust advocates respond nonsense
People seem to believe in order to write popular articles I just conjure up some imaginary straw men who make asinine arguments. Yes, I write about asinine comments, but the people who make them are very real.
In this article I’m going to focus on actual feedback I got from Rust advocates regarding my previous article Rust doesn’t belong in the Linux kernel; it’s all about ideology.
Because that article is heavily peppered with political references, I initially decided not to share it anywhere. However, somebody decided to share it to the Rust subreddit (r/rust) and I got a lot of feedback. Although this feedback alone is interesting enough to write an article about it, many would say reddit users are not representative of the whole Rust community. Therefore I decided to contact the community Discord server and the official forum.
With feedback from three official and semiofficial Rust communities, I think it’s fair to say these responses are representative of the overall Rust community. So what did they say?
