Godot Engine ☛ Godot 4.4, a unified experience
Look forward to plenty of quality of life improvements hidden within this release. Faster load speeds, reduced stutter, streamlined processes — spotting all the optimizations that have been applied in the background will take some time.

nixCraft ☛ How to install KSH on FreeBSD
Installing KSH (KornShell) on FreeBSD can be done with either FreeBSD ports or the pkg command. The ports collection will download the KSH source code, compile it, and install it on the system. The pkg method is easier, and it will download a pre-compiled binary package.

Tor ☛ Arti 1.4.1 is released: Family improvements, groundwork for Conflux
Arti is our ongoing project to create a next-generation Tor client in Rust. Now we're announcing the latest release, Arti 1.4.1.
This release has a client-side implementation for Family IDs (a.k.a. "Happy Families"), which (when used everywhere!) will save relay administrators time and bandwidth. It also starts to lay the groundwork for a full Conflux implementation, to improve performance by sending traffic over multiple paths.

Loura ☛ Mini-coding adventure: Explorations with a command line browser
Which lead me back to an old desire of mine, building my own web browser. I’ve never gotten very far. Browsers are so very very complex and as soon as I get started I get overwhelmed. So maybe instead of tackling something so gargantuan, I start a bit smaller.
That lead me down a rabbit hole of text-based browsers. The one that struck me the most was Offpunk. I liked how it incorporated feeds, the simple text interface, and the concept of offline first. Which got me thinking…. What could I pull off in a couple of hours?

APNIC ☛ Notes from OARC 44
The DNS Operations, Analysis, and Research Center (DNS-OARC) brings together DNS service operators, DNS software implementors, and researchers to share concerns and information, and learn about the operation and evolution of the DNS. They meet between two to three times a year in a workshop format. The most recent workshop, OARC 44, was held in Atlanta, in February 2025. Here are my thoughts on some of the material presented and discussed at this workshop.
