Arch Linux-Based EndeavourOS Mercury Lands with Linux Kernel 6.13 and Xfce 4.20
Powered by the latest and greatest Linux 6.13 kernel series, EndeavourOS Mercury comes with the KDE Plasma 6.2.5 desktop environment on both the live environment and the offline installation option, as well as the latest Xfce 4.20 desktop environment, which is available as an option during the installation.

Our new ISO release is here, meet Mercury - EndeavourOS
It has been a while since we released our last ISO, Endeavour Neo, and even though this new ISO comes with many improvements and technical challenges we had to tackle, like resolving issues that came with Linux kernel 6.13, the Xfce 4.20 update, sfdisk and Calamares’ kpmcore, those challenges weren’t the main reason for the long hiatus between Endeavour Neo and Mercury.
No, it simply was that well-known song of life getting in the way and this situation won’t change for some time. Let me reassure you that we are not planning to throw in the towel, but you will have to get used to a somewhat irregular release schedule from us for now. This doesn’t mean that our ISOs will be left to deteriorate during availability. Every ISO receives and has received hotfixes during their run which will be fetched automatically before the installer starts doing its magic. The only major issue that can happen with this method is that the newest hardware possibly won’t boot our ISO due to an older kernel version over time. We will resolve those as soon as we can with Neo and Nova releases.

EndeavourOS 2025.02.08 comes with Firefox 135, default dark theme, multiple tweaks and fixes
EndeavourOS 2025.02.08 Mercury, although its version number suggests a February 8th release, was fully unveiled yesterday. This Arch Linux-based distro is now built on top of the Linux kernel 6.13, or 6.13.1.arch2-1 for those who want to get the full version number. The ISO now features a memory test for EFI boot as well, and the issue with BIOS/Legacy installs has been ironed out. The KDE Plasma, Gnome, Xfce, Mate, Budgie, and Cinnamon desktops come with a dark theme by default.

EndeavourOS Mercury Arrives As A Low-Key Release
EndeavourOS has done well to take its place as a top Arch-based Linux distribution that doesn't overwhelm newcomers by being too complex to handle. It had its beginnings in the discontinued Antergos project, going on to grow into the dependable offering it is now.
As this is a rolling release distro, it constantly receives updates, so when a new release drops, it is essentially a snapshot of the latest version with all recent improvements and fixes included.
