Thunderbird 115.1 Improves Flatpak Support, Hides Quick Filter Bar by Default
Thunderbird 115.1 looks like a modest release that only includes a few changes. For example, it hides the Quick Filter bar by default and adjusts the heights of the Mail tab toolbar and Unified toolbar to be more consistent.
Did you know you can install Thunderbird as a Flatpak app from Flathub? Well, the new release is here to improve support for the Flatpak version of the popular email client by allowing you to also run it from a terminal window using the thunderbird command.

An Update On Thunderbird Sync
Hello Thunderbird family! First and foremost, we want to express our deepest appreciation for your patience. The road to Thunderbird 115 “Supernova” has been a long one, and we’re confident you’ll love the final result. If you’re already using Thunderbird 115, you may have noticed a feature that is conspicuously absent: Thunderbird Sync.
When we started creating our roadmap for Supernova, our feature targets were ambitious. As it turns out, a little too ambitious. We did our very best to finish up Thunderbird Sync for the initial release of version 115, but some technical blockers prevented us from moving forward fast enough to deliver it to you. Besides, this is a feature that absolutely must be secure and reliable. And it needs months of user testing to ensure that stability.

Thunderbird 115.1 Released with Bug Fixes & UI Buffs
To keep things ticking over nicely a scheduled update to the open source email client is rolling out. The update brings a bunch of bug fixes to bear, plus a couple of minor UI tweaks.
Thunderbird 115.1 hides the Quick Filter bar by default. I think this gives the e-mail client (in whatever layout you’re using) a sleeker presentation. Still it’s only hidden by default not removed; the Quick Filter bar is still included and you can show/hide it with a mouse click or a key press.
