MX Linux 23 “Libretto” Is Out with Linux Kernel 6.4, Based on Debian Bookworm
Derived from the latest and greatest Debian GNU/Linux 12 “Bookworm” operating system series, MX Linux 23 comes with the long-term supported Linux 6.1 LTS kernel series by default for all three editions supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
However, MX Linux’s AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) editions are powered by the latest Linux 6.4 kernel series for those who need its new features and the extra hardware support where the Linux 6.1-powered images fail to detect your hardware.

MX Linux 23 is here: Your favorite Debian-based OS gets even better!
MX Linux 23, the latest stable version of the popular operating system, is now available for download. This release is built on the sturdy foundation of Debian 12 “Bookworm” and MX repositories. Just as with previous versions, MX Linux 23 defaults to sysVinit while keeping systemd as an optional choice for installed systems.
One of the most noticeable changes in this release is the revamped live boot menus, featuring a more prominent “check media” function. This new feature offers an automatic media check before proceeding to boot, thus providing a smoother user experience.
MX Linux 23 brings with it an array of major desktop versions, including Xfce 4.18, Fluxbox 1.3.7, and KDE/Plasma 5.27. These upgrades are sure to offer a range of choices to cater to the diverse preferences of users.

MX Linux 23 Released Based on Debian 12.1, Here’s What’s New

Rating by us as one of the best desktop-oriented distros, including Xfce as its flagship desktop environment, the (almost) systemd-free Linux distro MX Linux is a long-established name among open-source enthusiasts.
Today, after two betas, three RCs, refreshed identity, and over six months after the previous 21.3 release, MX Linux’s devs released the highly anticipated MX Linux 23 “Libretto.” So, let’s see what’s changed.

Middleweight champ MX Linux 23 delivers knockout punch
The MX Linux project has rolled out a new major release, based on Debian 12, and is on its way to becoming our favorite distro.
Around this time last year, MX Linux was new to us, as we said when we looked at version 21.2. Now at version 23, its developers describe it as a middleweight distro. Don't be misled, though: while it doesn't go out of its way to be stripped down or minimalist, it's as rich and feature-complete as any desktop distro out there.
The principal difference between MX and other Debian remixes which seek to improve on the base OS, such as Linux Mint Debian Edition or siduction, is that MX is a member of the shortlist of distros that don't use the systemd init system.
