Hackaday ☛ A Game Engine For Microcontrollers
It’s called Jet Studio, and it’s an open-source game editor that looks and works like Godot. In reality, it’s a Godot app with a C++ GDExtension, and it’s for making games that run on an Arduino Nano ESP32 or an STM32F746. Specifically, it’s intended for use with the commonly-available ILI9341 SPI LCD display.

KDE ☛ October 2026 in KDE Linux
Welcome to a new edition of This Month in KDE Linux, dedicated to KDE’s next-generation operating system.
October was another infrastructure-heavy month for the project. A major initiative involved migrating the OS image storage and updating system to work with KDE’s new S3-based file storage server. Another consisted of moving KDE Linux’s OpenQA system to a dedicated server on KDE infrastructure, and off of Harald Sitter’s personal server.
This very large amount of work was done by Bhushan Shah, Sky Poincet, Harald Sitter, and Ben Cooksley, so thanks to them!
It should all be pretty transparent, but if you find yourself unable to update with a “Protocol error” message, see the recovery instructions here.

Data Science Plus ☛ Top-cited scientists in clinical medicine by country: the Stanford–Elsevier top 2% list in R
The data is John Ioannidis’s science-wide author database, built with Elsevier from Scopus (Ioannidis, J.P.A. (2026), "August 2026 data-update for ‘Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators’", Mendeley Data, v9, doi:10.17632/btchxktzyw.9, licensed CC BY-NC 3.0). An author is listed if they rank in the top 100,000 by a composite citation score or in the top 2% of their main subfield. I use the single-year table, which scores citations received during 2025. Each row carries a main field from the Science-Metrix classification (sm-field) and the country of the author’s most recent institution (cntry).
