Hackaday ☛ Rooting An Amazon Echo Dot
The Amazon Echo Dot is one of Amazon’s so-called ‘smart speaker’ offerings that tie into their larger Alexa-fueled ecosystem, designed to be a pretty minimalistic device that gives you access to this voice assistant and also the Amazon AWS cloud access to your home. If that latter part isn’t really your jam, you can always try to unshackle the device from the Amazonian cloud by rooting the device, as [Andy] recently did with a 2018 Echo Dot 3.

Raspberry Pi ☛ OuijaCNC
The first step in the project was to create a lightweight core XY CNC machine. For this I drafted in my husband, and he was able to put something together within a couple of days using 3D-printed parts, fishing line, some motors, and an ESP32 that he had lying around.

Hackaday ☛ 3D Printed Einstein-Szilard Refrigerator Cools With Fire
Most absorption refrigerators use ammonia and water as their working fluids; since the ammonia gas needs to condense at room temperature, the refrigerator requires pressures above what can be comfortably held in a glass or plastic enclosure. The Einstein-Szilard design, by contrast, uses a third liquid as its refrigerant. A strong solution of ammonia in water is separated by boiling, and the ammonia gas induces the refrigerant to evaporate by decreasing its partial pressure. The refrigerant and ammonia gasses then mix with water, in which the ammonia dissolves, leaving the refrigerant vapor to condense and start the cycle again. The newly reformed water-ammonia solution flows back into the boiler.

Ruben Schade ☛ I miss my Swedish keyboard
The other question would be what mechanical keyboard PCBs and keycaps would support such layouts. I benefit from ANSI being the “defualt” in most keeb stores, but I’d need to build some variation of ISO board if I were to build my dream superset Latin layout.
