Empathy in Free Software
When we lost Lent (not Lent the event) we were becoming more passionate about the rights of animals. Rianne in particular. But what about other humans?
See, there's this growing "movement" creeping into the community that promotes right-wing radicalism, which includes xenophobia and exclusion. They call themselves "anti-Woke" and they take pride in active exclusion, almost segregation. They act as if (and maybe genuinely believe) they are the victims, the oppressed, the disadvantaged.
Free Software was never about exclusion. It was diverse right from the very start and it encouraged empathy towards minorities, women (already a minority in CS by the 1980s), and lots more.
People who believe in Software Freedom ought to understand that exclusion goes against the "spirit" of the movement. █
