Kdenlive ☛ Akademy 2026
In September, I traveled to Graz, Austria, to attend KDE's annual conference - Akademy, which also marked KDE's 30th birthday this year.
Unfortunately I fell sick and was not able to celebrate as much as I would have liked. I wasn't able to attend the welcome event, not the first day of the conference. Luckily there was a great video team covering the event so I could enjoy the live streams.

Ahmad Alfy ☛ Iframes that finally fit their content
Chrome 154 lets an iframe grow to the height of its content with one line of CSS without having to measure, without messages, and without resize scripts. But the page inside the iframe has to agree to it. That catch is the most interesting part of this feature, so this article spends some time on it.

Mozilla ☛ Mozilla Privacy Blog: Canada’s bill C-22 threatens encryption, users’ privacy and the security of digital economies
Encryption is woven into everyday digital life. It protects our messages and passwords, but also banking and payments, health data, government services and the digital infrastructure societies rely on every day. Yet across jurisdictions, governments are increasingly considering laws that expand lawful access to data for law enforcement and national security purposes. In practice, this can mean requiring companies to create new ways to access encrypted data, introduce technical capabilities that bypass existing protections, or make otherwise secure systems insecure. These measures can weaken the very security encryption is designed to provide, with consequences for cybersecurity, privacy, fundamental rights and the wider economy. Canada’s Bill C-22 is the latest example of this trend, raising serious concerns about the security and privacy consequences of expanding government access to data.

Kiwi TCMS: 12 Kiwi TCMS interview questions by AssertHired
AssertHired is a mock interview and upskilling platform built only for QA engineers and SDETs. You answer real QA interview questions, typed or out loud, and an Hey Hi (AI) interviewer asks follow-ups the way a hiring panel would. Every answer is scored on technical accuracy, communication, use of examples, and depth. Then you see what a stronger answer would have covered.
It was built by Aston Cook - a Senior QA Automation Engineer with more than ten years in test automation who’s run more than 50 QA interviews as the person making the hiring decision.
AssertHired grew out of my own interview prep for loops at Amazon, Abusive Monopolist Microsoft and Google. Every time, the material was either too generic or too shallow. Nothing gave me realistic practice with the questions QA interviewers actually ask, graded by someone who has sat on both sides of the table. So I built it.
